CURRENTLY.

Obsessing over: These macarons from San Antonio. I've already asked, persuade, guilt-trip my sister into sending me some. I've decided to make some for my French 1 cultural project in a couple of weeks. I'm pretty nervous about the baking of them (I've tried before and ew) and for the French speaking in the video I have to make. Luckily for my tastebuds, there are some pretty awesome tutorials out there for the baking part, including, this amazing one
Working on: School. Making sure Jack is better. Keeping my house clean. Among other things....
Thinking about: Tea. I'm going to place a DavidsTea order soon and I can't stop thinking about what to order. I have my favorites that I need to order, but I always love trying new ones. We'll see!
Watching: Nashville, Once Upon a Time, Grey's Anatomy, The Following, and Chicago Fire. The Following isn't something I'd normally watch, but I'm so glad that I started. It's so intense. Chicago Fire is also something new for me. I started about a month ago and I'm all caught up. It's a good show. I'm also dying to watch Argo. Hopefully, we can get a date-night soon and watch it.
Reading: I wish I was reading fun books, but I'm not. Too much reading for school.
Listening to: I can't get enough... Phosphorescent: The Mermaid Parade.

Eating: Too many cookies Jack and I made this weekend. Salads, too. I have had a salad almost every day last week and this weekend. I'm loving arugula, mixed greens, peppers, black beans, avocado, sunflower seeds, shredded cheddar, and spicy ranch. So good.
Wishing: That some things could be a little easier for us. I'm thinking, hoping, praying, dreaming they will be soon.

(Thank you to Danielle at Sometimes Sweet for this idea! I love it

WEEKEND.

Our weekend consisted of boogers, kleenex, Wreck it Ralph on repeat, blankets, chicken noodle soup, and lots of orange juice. Some little three year old is sick. It started with a stomach virus on Thursday and turned into a full blown cold this weekend. He will be off to the doctor today, again, to see if they can find something that will help with his cough and super runny nose. He's so sad.

Thank you to everyone who has wished him well this weekend on Instagram. We really appreciate everyone's get-well wishes!!!

COOKIES.

We've had a pretty blue weekend so far (Jack is sick). I decided to make some cookies with Jack's help. We made blue doggies for our blue weekend. These are Spritz cookies and so super easy if you have a cookie press. I always add almond extract because that's the way my grandma made them and they are perfect. Jack loves them almost as much as he loves being my helper.
When Jack is helping me bake, I portion out all the ingredients so he can pour them into the mixer. He LOVES cracking eggs, so we do that together.
He gets to put all the sprinkles on.
Little man fell asleep before they came out of the oven, but we've shared a few since then.

IN THE FAMILY

My mom gave me this ring a couple of years ago. I was working in a kitchen at the time, and wasn't able to wear it often enough bring it home with me. One of my recent trips home, we got it sized and now I can't bear to take it off. This ring was my mom's before I was born. My mom sold it to my grandma sometime before I was born and the day my mom had me, my grandma slipped it back on her finger saying to give it to her daughter one day. It will forever be passed down through our family now....Now all I need is that girl!
Sweater: J. Crew; Jeans: Target; Shoes; Bakers

SAN ANTONIO

We had so much fun in Sna Antonio.

We met my mom and stepdad there. My sister and her family live there and it was the first time I got to meet my little teeny niece. She's the cutest thing ever. We did a lot of eating (because that's what we do) and a little shopping and a lot of hanging out together.
We went to a little farmers market near downtown. I lived in San Antonio almost 8 years ago and I never knew this existed. If I did, then I probably would have moved into the apartments right next to it and attended the culinary school in the same square. There were too many dogs to count and so much good food. We got a few local goat cheeses and some bread. Then we went to eat at The Boiler Room. BEST BRUNCH I've had in a really long time.
Chicken fried quail, popcorn grits, and fried quail eggs. Yes. Amazing.
Jack enjoyed his chocolate chip pancakes... or the whipped cream.
Then we went to Bakery Lorraine. I swear if this would have been open when I lived there, I would have gone broke buying all the macrons. I've tried quite a few in my day and I never really liked them... then I tried Bakery Lorraine's macrons. Amazing.
My plan is to finish them all by today, since I got six plus three extra and have only eaten the three and one in the box. Eek! I can't let them go bad!!
My family. Little stinker over there was a tad tired of the photoshoot.
Then we did a little bit of shopping. (J Crew here and I bought too much but to be fair there was way too many amazing things).
Sunday morning we went to my favorite place in San Antonio, Mi Terra. It's a Mexican restaurant with amazing food and a bakery counter in the front. Also, it's decorated VERY festive (understatement of the century).
After our lunch, we drove home. This little guy was so tired on the way home and has been missing his Mimee and Popo since we left them. He's already asked to go back to "Anian Tonio" a bunch of times. Soon, kid. Soon.

Weekend.

We spent a lot of time indoors this weekend. After a very hard week for me, all I wanted was to cuddle my boys all weekend. I won't go into to why it was horrible, but it was. I'm dealing with it and it should all work out, but man....

My dad was here this weekend for a little bit and he brought Jack this soccer net and some shin guards. He LOVES them. (Thanks, Dad and Melissa!!) He did this almost all day Sunday. Practice for March!!

This coming weekend we are meeting my mom and stepdad in San Antonio for a little much needed getaway.

BBC.

In this house, we have a thing for British TV. We don't have a ton of shows in our line up, but the ones we do have, we absolutely love. More than a lot of the American shows we watch.

Duh. Downton Abbey is amazing. If you have been living under a rock and haven't ventured into the land of Downton..... do so. Now. I won't go too much into the actual premise of the show because it will take away from the "find-it-out-yourself" part of this. I just finished the recent series (not season, I've learned) and it was heartbreaking and amazing. I can't wait for the next.

Top Gear UK is just fun. Jeremy started watching it a while back and I try to involve myself in things that he finds interesting. This show is awesome. We wait and wait for it to be released on this side of the pond and wait and wait some more. It takes forever for it to make it here, but when it does..... OMG. We are glued. It's three guys and a driver who drive/test cars and have fun.

This show took me a while. I watched Jeremy watch it for weeks before I started it. It's so good. I can't even explain. Sherlock is fast talking and super crazy smart. Just watch it. I'm so glad I did.

You may ask why Dr. Who is not on this list... Jeremy watched a few of the series and well, I couldn't get into it. I can tell how and why people love it but it's not for me. Sorry, friends!

LOVE CUPCAKES.

Jack and I made cupcakes this weekend. We just used the Valentine's Day cake mix and frosting but they are always so good. These are almost gone.....

We try to bake or making something yummy every single weekend. We don't get a lot of time during the week for fun stuff, so the weekends are usually jam packed with fun! We don't usually go anywhere except to the grocery store and maybe the park, but we make our time at home count. Jack looks forward to our baking all week. We bring out the big toys Saturday mornings. We watch far too many movies and shows (Daniel Tiger is killing me). Weekends keep us going.
