LOVE DAY.

I love Valentine's Day. I'm planning on a couple little things to do for Jack and hopefully a romantic something for the husband and I. We don't get to do much alone, which there are no complaints, but a nice night out would be so awesome. I'll be sharing some gift ideas soon, too!

OUR WEEKEND.

I had expectations for this weekend. I wanted to have a great one... but the world thought otherwise. It had planned for me a weekend that tested me as a mom.

Jack was being overly dramatic, meaning he was acting just like a three year old. Everything was "NO!!!" and fake crying. Time-outs happened. Ipad time was taken away. Early bedtime happened. Yelling happened... a lot from my end and I am really hating it. Yelling doesn't fix things. It never has in this house. We try very hard not to yell and to explain the situation so we can avoid it next time.  Obviously, I am not perfect. This did not work this weekend. Explaining led to more yelling and crying. Jack is three. He is learning and testing his boundaries and seeing what he can get away with. I apparently wasn't prepared for this this weekend, but who really ever is?

Now, don't get me wrong. The whole weekend wasn't a downer or a waste. We made mole (a Mexican chocolate/chicken dish). We made tres leches cake. We escaped to the park for a while. It was rather cold and windy, so we didn't stay as long as we had all hoped. We fed the ducks. I got even more Jack hugs and "I love you's" even through all the mess in-between.

Looking at all those little dried up weeds (flowas, as Jack calls them) and seeing that my sweet little boy picked them and chose to give them to me throughout this whole hard weekend, makes my heart melt. I'm a pool of heart guts right now. He really is the sweetest little kid.

These weekends happen. They don't happen very often around here, but they happen. Now I know what I need to work on... and I'm working. Hard.

FRESH.

I'm unveiling a new blog design soon and I couldn't be more excited! I've been in such a rut in my whole life lately....doing the exact same thing everyday, wearing the exact same clothes everyday, and not having much inspiration or pull to do anything new or exciting or to write/blog. Jack hasn't been sleeping so well, so I've been so tired all day every day for the past 2 or so weeks.

This new design has sparked a little bit in me that is wanting change. I'm working on school and getting back into the groove. I'm working on adding some good, solid pieces to my work wardrobe ( I need to look 28 and not 18 at work, please! ). I'm planning out our weekends so they will be filled with big outings, or just small crafts/baking around the house. I'm changing my phone case... it's all about the little and maybe some not-so-little things. And of course, I plan on sharing these things and a lot more. I'm actually excited about blogging again!

This dude is very headstrong, but in the best way. What kid would want to sit down for dinner when all those toys are just sitting there waiting to be played with?? Getting him to understand the sit-down part or the “hey kid, you’re pretty smelly and need a bath nowish” part, is a work in progress. He still hates his veggies and won’t even attempt to try them. People always say to start your kids on vegetables first when they are babies so they’ll like them when they are older… oh yah? Didn’t work here. He hates them. I hide them in smoothies most days.  He still gives the best full-body hugs and says “I love you, mommy” at the top of his lungs when he remembers to say it. He’s the best kid ever.

JANUARY 14th, 2013.

Today I started my first set of classes towards my Bachelor's degree. French and College Algebra. I want that kid up there to be proud of his mama for having two degrees and doing something she's always wanted to do. No regrets!! Let's do this!

WEEKEND PLANS.

During our last pallet night.

SO! This weekend we plan to stay home and veg out. I'm seeing a pallet day/night on the floor in the living room with Star Wars playing all day long. Maybe we'll bake something... maybe we'll cook something good... maybe we won't. I love lazy weekends.

This weekend I was going to see my brand new niece, but plans have changed. I'll meet her in February!
