Friday?
Is it Friday yet? We get the keys to our new place this Friday and it can't come soon enough. We are getting movers for the first time for Saturday. This is a very exciting thing because we have always moved ourselves and it always SUCKS. Hopefully this goes well. If all goes well, we will be all moved in by Saturday and then unpacking and unpacking. Oh and unpacking. My mom is coming to help after the 11th sometime, so that's exciting too. I cannot wait to be done. We have some good crafts in line and some decorating that I can't wait for. I'll share the entire place as soon as it's ready!

Recent DIYs
While I was home for July 4th, my mom, nieces, and I tried to be a little crafty. Some worked... and some well, failed.
We tried to tie-die. It was fun getting all dirty and dyed.
They looked great the next day after the rubberbands were removed...but after we washed them.........they turned brown. The whole shirt. DIY fail.
My mom and I did a little painting in her studio. That was one of the best times.
The one DIY that worked was the mugs I made/drew. I used A Beautiful Mess' method. The mugs were bought at Target.
I used lyrics, flowers, hearts, and just some random little sayings. They were really fun to make and I can't wait to use them. I didn't bring them with me since my mom is coming up here really soon to help me move in to our new place. I can't wait!

Currently...
Obsessing over... Jack's third birthday party coming up. It's September 29th, but I always start planning early. This year he wanted Cars or super heroes. We chose super heroes for this year and Cars for next year. We are going to save and save to take him to Disneyland to Carsland for his fourth birthday! So, this year will be a lot of mommy-made stuff and etsy stuff. I'm really excited about it because it means my step-dad and mom will come up along with some friends and family from in-town. I'm also obsessing over moving and decorating. We get our keys on the third and we are going to have movers move for us. My mom is coming up to help unpack and decorate. I've been hording a ton of cute things to put up in our new place... I am WAY excited!
Anticipating... MOVING. MOVING. MOVING. DECORATING. DECORATING. DECORATING. BACKYARD!!!
Working on... being more faithful to this place I created for myself. I tend to get overwhelmed with all the blogs I read and lean towards wanting to do things the way they do, but then I realize that I don't want to be like them and I get lost. This is my place. My place to say what I want and WHEN I want. I'm doing better. :]
Watching... /playing the Sims. For our anniversary, Jeremy sent me flowers to my office (which I've never ever had before), got me some LUSH stuff, and bought the Sims3 and a couple expansions. I love the Sims. No lie. It's really hard to find time to play, but after Jack goes to bed and Jeremy is on his game... yay me!
Thinking about... when my mom will be here and unpacking. I miss her, if you can't tell. With my new job and her being busy all the time, we don't get to talk as much as we used to. I'm working on texting her more throughout the day just to keep a conversation up, but it's hard at work.
Reading... I reread 50 Shades. Yup. I'm almost done with the last book and then I'm starting The Fault in our Stars that was recommended by Danielle at Sometimes Sweet.
Listening to... Beach House and Deerhunter on repeat. Beach House is coming to Dallas in September, but tickets are a little hefty. I'm still going to go and I can't wait!
Eating... nothing yet. It's early. We are headed to Trader Joe's today! I love that store. The TJ's in Ft. Worth opened a couple months ago and we've only gone once. We loved everything we got that day and have planned to go back so many times! It's happening.. today.
Wishing... it was 2 weeks from now and I was blogging in my new half-house (duplex). And I'm secretly wishing we go to Yogurtland today! I need more Sanrio in my life!!!
July 4th // Vacation
For July 4th, we went to my parent's house. Well, their condo at South Padre Island. It was a long drive. A LONG drive. We stopped at my sister's in Austin on the way down to split it up. We had fun. Listened to music, watched the iPad, read books, played with cards, and ate lots of snacks.
As soon as we got there, we headed to the beach. Little man fell asleep as soon as we parked. So, we didn't last very long on the sand. He loved the water and the waves. He would run out there and we would have to chase him down. He begged and begged for us to take him in the water. We definitely did... over and over. He collected a few shells, but the waves.... the waves were distracting. My little water baby...
The girls and I did a little bit of shopping on the island. I don't think anyone actually bought anything, but we went to a few shops. My niece, Ashlee, is getting big. She's almost 10 and acts 18. She has instagram, she wears my clothes, she has raybans, she rocks.
We watched the fireworks on the bay. They do them every Friday, but for the 4th they try to go all out. It wasn't as good as I've seen in the past, but it was cool. Jack was in awe until we told him that he couldn't walk around on the dock we were on because he might fall in the water. We ended up going back upstairs to the condo before anyone else. We watched most of it. He was really tired anyway and we had a blow-up bed waiting!
One of the best parts about doing to see my mom, is seeing my mom and her backyard. Her and my step-dad work really hard to make it what it is. It's the best in the morning, before it gets too hot. They have a koi pond, pool, deck, plants and plants. It looks as is it's out of a magazine or resort.
My entire family was there as were all the kids. We did some crafts. Some worked and some definitely didn't. There a whole other post on that later. I did get to make some mugs for my mom and my new kitchen using A Beautiful Mess' method.
In my hometown, a bakery went on Cupcake Wars and won. So now cupcake shops are opening up everywhere. We tried to go to the place that won, but waiting in line for a cupcake for almost an hour with a 3 year old.... not a good idea. We went to two others and they were good. Maybe next time I'll try the famous cupcakes.
On our last night there, the girls decided that we needed to go have some fun. It's a rarity that both my sisters-in-law, mom, and cousin get to go somewhere without all our kids. But they dad's were awesome and let us out. We went to a bar for a drink then..... Magic Mike. I'm not going to go on and review it because there wasn't much to review. The only part I liked about the entire movie was the hip-hop dancing (the guys had their clothes on for that, btw). But hanging out with these girls was the best part.
Now I miss them...all. It's really hard living almost 10 hours away from my entire family. I hope one day that we can move a little closer. But we had a great little mini-vacation!!!

My garden is coming along so well. These are snapdragons that we started as seeds. They are finally blooming.
We are in the middle of packing and getting things ready to be in our new place. We will have a backyard, so that will include a lot of outside time and decorating. I'm planning a lot of fun things for out there and a whole new inside, too.
I have a lot of photos to share soon, so I'll be doing that.
Jack's getting so big and smart... I really need to keep a "diary/journal" here for him.
I will soon be back to regular blogging on this pretty little thing here. And I really can't wait. I've missed this!

Jackson.
I wish I could say he wore these for longer than 3 seconds...but nope. I bought them for our beach trip this week!!
We weren't sure it was going to happen since I just started a new job. But my bosses are awesome!!
I've been super inspired by the lovely Mrs. Larson at A Beautiful Mess so I might change things up around here.
I'm very excited about the things to come!!
